In a joyous display of community pride, Sekhing Village in the Greater Taung Local Municipality came alive as they celebrated the triumphant return of their own, Onalenna Khonkhobe, winner of the prestigious Two Oceans Marathon. Khonkhobe’s remarkable victory at the 2024 Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town over the weekend has ignited waves of excitement throughout the village.
The welcoming ceremony, eagerly anticipated by residents, reached its pinnacle as Khonkhobe’s motorcade, led by the esteemed MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mme Kenetswe Mosenogi, made its way through the streets. The procession stopped first at the home of Khonkhobe’s grandmother, Mme Elizabeth Gaokgatlhe, where heartfelt embraces and proud cheers filled the air.
From there, the convoy proceeded to Sekhing Primary School, where Khonkhobe’s journey to victory had begun. Here, amidst cheers and applause from adoring fans and young aspiring athletes, Khonkhobe shared inspiring words of encouragement, emphasizing the importance of dedication, perseverance, and community support.
